Mel Gibson and Danny Glover’s Riggs and Murtaugh could be returning to the big screen one last time.
Dan Lin, producer of the now cancalled ‘Lethal Weapon’ TV series, revealed during the latest The Hollywood Reporter’s Producers Roundtable that he and director Richard Donner (Lethal Weapon 1-4) are working on bringing the genre defining action buddy cop franchise back. It has been 22 years since the release of ‘Lethal Weapon 4’.
“We’re trying to make the last Lethal Weapon movie. And Dick Donner’s coming back. The original cast is coming back. And it’s just amazing. The story is very personal to him. Mel and Danny are ready to go, so it’s about the script.”

The soon to be 90 year old Donner hasn’t made a film since 2006’s Bruce Willis starrer ’16 Blocks’.
The original Shane Black written ‘Lethal Weapon’ was released in 1987. No release date has been proposed for the possible new film.
