‘Game Of Thrones’ star Peter Dinklage has signed up to star in a reboot of Troma’s ‘Toxic Avenger’ franchise. Macon Blair is on board to direct. Troma’s Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz, the director and creators of the original, will return to serve as producers.
The original ‘Toxic Avenger’ was released in 1984 and lead to three sequels, a cartoon, a stage musical, and a comic book. It’s the story of a nerdy cleaner who becomes a superhero after he falls into a vat of toxic chemicals.
Dinklage has spent his career working on both prestige projects and crowd pleasers. Blair made his directorial debut with the acclaimed Netflix release ‘I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore’. He also works regularly with Jeremy Saulnier, starring in 2013’s ‘Blue Ruin‘.
No production schedule has been announced.
