J.J. Abrams will be producing a direct sequel to hit 2008 found footage monster movie ‘Cloverfield’. That film was also produced by Abrams and directed by Matt Reeves.
Joe Barton has been hired to write the film which won’t be using the found footage gimmick. Barton is currently working with Matt Reeves on ‘The Batman’ HBO Max spin-off series but Reeves is not connected to this project.
There were two follow-ups to the original, ’10 Cloverfield Lane’ in 2016 and ‘The Cloverfield Paradox’ in 2018, but they were sequels in name only.
