Stacy Osei-Kuffour has been hired to writer reboot of ‘Blade’ that will be set in the MCU. She is best known for her work on HBO’s critically acclaimed ‘Watchmen’ and Amazon’s ‘Hunters’.
The new ‘Blade’, starring multi-Oscar winner Mahershala Ali, was the surprise announcement at the 2019 San Diego Comic Con but this is the first news on the project since then. Blade was last seen on screen in ‘Blade: Trinity’ in 2004, the final installment of the Wesley Snipes starring trilogy.
Kuffour will be the first Black woman to write a Marvel movie. This follows the hiring last year of Nia DaCosta, director of the still unreleased ‘Candyman’ sequel, to helm ‘Captain Marvel 2’ making her Marvel’s first Black woman director.
Marvel and Ali’s next step will be to find a director for the project that has no set release date.
